muddville - 2010

Relaunch of Mike Mudd’s homepage on the web today. Finally a truly professional website -and it’s DIY! I don’t like to be an ad for corporations, but THANK YOU APPLE for making my life as a starving artist so much easier.

Now the professional recordings begin. Saturday will be an 8 hour recording session at Prussian Blue Recording studio in Taichung.

International food and music fest

It was fun 'Going Native' today... Jamming with Native Space at the Compass Taichung International Food and Music Festival!

We kicked off the festival with a more or less improvised jam and a couple of songs thrown in.

I ain’t Superstitious

m not superstitious, but thanking the muse obviously helps! I woke up with 2 new songs in my head this morning -but didn't have time to flesh both of them out. Here's yesterday's tune called 'Earthquake.'

The song lyrics tell what it's about. 'I woke up from a dream and I'm singing. When I wake up with a song in my head, I've just got to jump right out of bed.' The song was in the dream I had yesterday morning.

My Dream Muse...

I want to thank my dream muse for giving me another song this morning! That's 2 songs from my sleep, making 4 new songs in 2 weeks! 3 Dream songs...

99.1 Radio ‘mini-festival’

‘Crazy Rock’ In the Park

The silence played two sets at a one-day mini-festival organized by Butterfly Crys music center (I know it's spelled 'CRIES' but hey, It's Taiwan!) and Taichung radio station Super 99.1. We kicked out the jams!!! Though I still can’t understand why it’s so hard to convice the guys that our stage presence suffers when we sit down to perform!

Our New Digs

Our new apartment on top of the world...  well, at least the 20th floor.  What will happen in case of earthquake? I don’t know, but this building didn’t collapse during the last big one! (But around 600 other ones did.)

Soho Street Chili-cookoff KIDZ Charity

It was an awesome day yesterday on Taichung’s Soho St. and a great cause. I played a set with Shao-Yi and then jammed with a bunch of people like Chris Baily from 3 Day Bender. P.J. tried to get me drunk -but I know when to say when! Better luck next time bro!

non-existent blues

Everyone as great as James Tillich deserves his/her own anthem! You’ve never heard of James Tillich? That’s not surprising because he doesn’t exist! He’s the most famous non-existent philosopher in history! I wrote this song in honor of the (non) man on the day set aside to honor him and all non-existence...
It's very easy for a non-existent singer-songwriter to identify with a non-existent philosopher... That’s why my head’s cut off!

Retro Taichung

This place has quickly become my favorite Taichung cafe-style venue. The owner Scott Chen is awesome, the space is awesome, the vibe is awesome. And to top it off Scott takes phenomenal photos and records every show on video! WOW! We’ll be back on July 10th...

a motley looking crew

I’ve been jamming a lot with a group called Native Space -jam band/improv music mixed with some hip-hop stylings. I love it, but I’m more singer-songwriter than lead guitarist. The Refuge where the jams happen is an awesome community center and party place for expatriates. There’s always something going on there!
